A timeline of sorts, showing the duels between Utena and others throughout the series. This is divided into four story arcs:
STUDENT COUNCIL ARC
Amitie >> Friendship
Because of Wakaba's broken heart at the hands of Saionji, Utena challenges Saionji. The discovery of the mysterious Rose Bride, and Utena's victory leads to their engagement.
Tenjou Utena vs. Saionji Kyouichi
Choix >> Choice
Unable to swallow defeat, Saionji's pride will not accept reality. He requests a rematch with Utena. Utena is not willing to follow the Duelist's Code, but can she lose knowing what Anthy will be returning to?
Tenjou Utena vs. Saionji Kyouichi
Raison >> Reason
Miki's search for that one special thing, that shining thing, and to protect it. Is Anthy that shining thing?
Tenjou Utena vs. Kaoru Miki
Amour >> Love
Unrequited love is what pains Juri's heart. Do miracles exist? If miracles existed, wouldn't Juri have been able to be in love, or at least end her unreturned love?
Tenjou Utena vs. Arisugawa Juri
Adoration >> Adoration
Adoration can lead to jealousy. Her adoration for her brother will not allow Nanami to forgive Utena, and a duel takes place.
Tenjou Utena vs. Kiryuu Nanami
Conviction >> Conviction
The prince she admires so much, could it possibly be Touga? Can Utena defeat her prince? Is saving Anthy worth defeating her prince?

BLACK ROSE ARC
Akio has a fiancee, Ohtori Kanae, who's deceased father was once the chairman of Ohtori Academy. Akio has since then taken over, and acts as chairman of the school. Kanae can't find herself getting along with Anthy, Akio's sister, and Mikage turns her into a Black Rose duelist.
Tenjou Utena vs. Ohtori Kanae
Kozue's starvation for Miki's attention isn't quite returned, and this drives her to Mikage, who then manipulates her need for Miki's love to transform her into a Black Rose duelist.
Tenjou Utena vs. Kaoru Kozue
The startling realization of truth; the one that Juri loves is in fact, Shiori. Shiori's constant inferiority complex to Juri suddenly leaps into just the opposite, and she takes advantage of the quiet pain that she can inflict on Juri. Mikage convinces Shiori that she should battle Utena.
Tenjou Utena vs. Takatsuki Shiori
Mitsuru's crush on Nanami has lead him to become her slave, but his young age fails to realize the truth. As he grows to realize that he is being treated like a child by Nanami, he wishes he could grow up faster. Mikage turns him into a Black Rose Duelist.
Tenjou Utena vs. Tsuwabuki Mitsuru
Wakaba is still quite in love with Saionji, and she secretly hides him in her dorm room after he is expelled from the academy. Out of gratitude, Saionji makes a gift for Wakaba, but Mikage convinces him to give to Anthy instead, and then arranges Saionji's return to the school. Crushed by this act, Wakaba is changed into a Black Rose duelist.
Tenjou Utena vs. Shinohara Wakaba
Keiko, one of Nanami's loyal followers, follows her around to just get a little bit closer to Touga. A party is thrown to cheer up Touga, but Keiko is not permitted to attend at Nanami's hands. Realizing that she can never get Touga to look at her, Keiko becomes a Black Rose duelist.

OHTORI AKIO ARC
The Student Council finally receives yet another letter from the Ends of the World, but Saionji is no longer willing to follow their orders because the Ends of the World had deceived him once. But after meeting Akio, Saionji decides to challenge Utena because he finally realizes that the Rose Bride has no will of her own.
Tenjou Utena vs. Saionji Kyouichi
Another letter is sent to the Student Council, one that tells them that they should "Defeat Tenjou Utena for your own sake." Miki does not believe in this and won't battle Utena, but Akio and Kozue manage to change his mind by using his feelings for Anthy.
Tenjou Utena vs. Kaoru Miki
The boy who got in between the friendship of Juri and Shiori, Tsuchiya Ruka, has returned to the school after leaving, due to his illness. As the former captain of the fencing team, he taught Juri all her techniques, and their skills are almost evenly matched. Shiori and Ruka become an item once again after she tells him that she polishes his sword everyday just for him. Juri is upset and asks Ruka to stop his relationship with Shiori because she knows he will hurt her, and Juri wants to protect her friend. Ruka then challenges Utena, but even his skills cannot defeat the power of Dios. Shiori who was acting as his Rose Bride tells him they will win the power of miracles next time, but Ruka declines and says there will be no next time. He admits that the sword Shiori has been polishing all this time wasn't actually his, and announces he knows she was lying the whole time.
Tenjou Utena vs. Tsuchiya Ruka
Shiori is hurting very badly from her nasty breakup with Ruka, but she desperately wants to be with Ruka still and leaves him messages on his answering machine. Juri acts as though she doesn't care, claiming it is none of her business. Juri decides to ask Ruka to get back on good terms with Shiori though, but it ends up as a duel: if Juri wins, Ruka gets back on good terms with Shiori; if Juri loses, she will do whatever Ruka wants her to do. Juri loses, and Ruka makes her challenge Utena once more. During the duel, Juri is very close to defeating Utena, but the power of Dios possesses Utena and strikes her locket. The locket containing a picture of Shiori, her loved one, shatters. Shocked, Juri removes her own rose and forfeits the duel.
Tenjou Utena vs. Arisugawa Juri
Nanami has a hard time trying to figure out her real relationship to her brother, Touga. Both her parents have blood type B, but Touga has the blood type A. Unable to handle the truth that her and Touga aren't really siblings, she faces Utena in another match.

APOCALYPSE ARC
The final duel is fast approaching, and the one to revolutionize the world will either be Touga or Utena, according to Akio. Which will it be? Touga, who realizes that he's fallen in love with Utena, asks her to the duel arena one night, where he professes his true love for her. He wants to be her prince and make her his princess...so he challenges her to a duel to save her from fighting Akio, in the final duel. He wants to protect Utena from the fate of being the Victor. Unfortunately, Touga loses, and now Utena is now the one to revolutionize the world.

The final duel. Can Utena defeat Akio and save Anthy? Is she really the one destined to open the gates to revolution? Or will she disappear?
